Common questions and how to get in touch.
Default shortcuts
- ⌃⌥← Snap focused window to left half
- ⌃⌥→ Snap focused window to right half
- ⌃⌥↩ Maximize focused window
- ⌘, Open Settings (when Splat menu is focused)
All shortcuts are customizable in Settings.
Why does Splat need Accessibility access?
macOS only allows apps to programmatically move other apps' windows through the Accessibility API, and only after the user explicitly grants access in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. This is the same permission Magnet, Rectangle, and other window managers require.
I granted Accessibility but Splat still doesn't work
macOS may have stored the permission for an older build of Splat. Try this:
- Quit Splat from the menu bar.
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
- Remove any existing "Splat" entry by selecting it and clicking the minus button.
- Re-launch Splat. Approve the new permission dialog.
How do I uninstall Splat?
Quit Splat (menu bar → Quit), then drag Splat.app from your Applications
folder to the Trash. To remove preferences:
- Open Terminal and run
defaults delete com.boiiboi.splat - If you enabled "Launch at login", disable it from Settings before quitting, or remove it from System Settings → General → Login Items.
System requirements
macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are both supported.
